Mind the Gap: an online tool for exploring the latest gender and education data
Mind Imagine a young girl starting school in the North African country of Mauritania. What are the chances she will continue to secondary school or even university? Will she keep up with, or even surpass, the boys in her class? To find the answers to these questions, Mind the Gap: Gender & Education, a new online game, takes players on an interactive journey where they can explore and compare the educational pathways available to girls and women around the world.
Developed by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) to mark International Women’s Day (8 March), the game invites players to immerse themselves in education data for about 200 countries and territories, and highlights gender disparities in primary, secondary and tertiary education.
Available in English, French and Spanish, Mind the Gap is designed for a general audience of a wide age range, including pupils, teachers and advocates, interested in learning more about the progress and pitfalls of girls’ and women’s education.
