WELDO is a leading not for profit developmental organization rendering valuable services to the development sector in [Image infos="WELDO.gif|thumb|right|184px"]Pakistan since January 1st, 2003. These organizations range from NGOs, research institutions, universities to Chamber of Commerce. <h2 id="w_programs-on-gender">Programs on gender</h2> Women Empowerment in the field of economics, literacy and development is an important component of WELDO. <ul> <li>Women In Trade (WIT): WIT is an important program which is aimed at providing support to women who are currently engaged in business activities in Pakistan. In this regard WELDO provides capacity building for women business owners in order to build their strength in presentation of their products, in communication, in access to foreign markets through international projects and through providing them funds for participation in international trade related meetings;</li> <li>Women In Energy (WE): WE is an important component of gender equality. Realizing the importance of this engagement of women with energy WELDO is currently carrying out programs at international level that include capacity building of women in energy conservation at home, at the office and in their businesses. WELDO is also carrying out projects to provide energy sources to women in the form of solar geezers, energy efficient lighting at home and initiating projects that will aim at introduction of small biogas plants that can fulfill energy needs for a small household. In Pakistan WELDO is working with SMEs (owned by women) in introducing energy efficient work environment and water conservation.</li> <li>Actions for Gender Responsive Economic Development (AGREE): AGREE aims at building the capacity of women and girl job seekers and graduate and post graduate level. This program not only provides training to women in real time job environment but also builds their capacity in CV preparation, interview preparation and confidence building. AGREE also provides vocational training to women who have some how been unable to gain education. Vocational training is designed on a yearly basis.</li> </ul> <h2 id="w_research">Research</h2> One of the main areas of focus of WELDO is scientific research and development projects. WELDO is always striving to take part in innovative R&D projects which aim at specializing technologies for sustainable production and consumption, environmental rehabilitation and conservation, health, social security, information and communication technologies. <h2 id="w_sources">References</h2> <ul> <li>www.weldo.org</li> </ul>
