<h2 id="w_about">About</h2>
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), established by the <a href="http://www.wikigender.org/wiki/united-nations-economic-and-social-council-ecosoc/">United Nations Economic and Social Council </a>(ECOSOC) Resolution 11(II) of 21 June 1946. With gender-equality and advancement of women as its focus, CSW’s mandates include drafting recommendations and reports to the Council on promoting women’s rights, the monitoring of implementation of measure for the advancement of women and the identification of issues affecting gender equality. The CSW also reviews the implementation of the <a href="http://www.wikigender.org/wiki/beijing-15/">Beijing Platform for Action</a>.

It meets annually in New York around the months of February and March for a period of 10 days to evaluate progress on gender equality, identify future developments, and vote on agreed conclusions on the priority themes set each year. The Commission also drafts resolutions and conventions, such as the "CEDAW.
