<p>The <b>Council of Women World Leaders</b> was created at a 1996 summit meeting of 11 of the world's then-current and former presidents and prime ministers. The first convening of the council took place in 1997 at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. </p><p>The Council is hosted at the UN Foundation. Members are nearly all current and former [Pagelink infos="Female Heads of State|women presidents and prime ministers"]. President <a href="https://twitter.com/@Grybauskaite_LT" alt="Dalia Grybauskaite">Dalia Grybauskaite</a> of Lithuania serves as Chair of the Council. </p><p>"Through its networks, summits, ministerial initiative, partnerships, fellows, and programs, the Council promotes good governance and [Pagelink infos="gender equality"], and enhances the experience of democracy globally by increasing the number, effectiveness, and visibility of women who lead their countries.
