Ending Female Genital Mutilation by 2030
Female genital mutilation (FGM) includes procedures that intentionally alter or cause injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. The practice has serious and enduring implications for the health and well-being of young women and is rooted in deeply entrenched socio-cultural norms. The International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation was held on 6th February with the 2017 theme focusing on “Building a solid and interactive bridge between Africa and the world to accelerate ending FGM by 2030″ This special focus draws attention to this topic with a selection of media articles.
