The OECD Development Centre, in partnership with the African Development Bank Group and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and with the support of the Austrian Development Agency, invites you to the Virtual Launch of the SIGI 2021 Regional Report for Africa “Tackling Gender-based Discrimination in Social Institutions in Africa: From dialogues to policy action”.
The virtual launch event aims to:
- Provide evidence, data and insights on where Africa stands in terms of discriminatory social institutions and what are the most difficult constraints faced by women and girls;
- Offer an analysis on the negative consequences of discriminatory social institutions across several dimensions that are critical for women’s human development and empowerment;
- Build on the series of policy dialogues organised in the region to share innovative approaches and concrete examples of how gender-transformative policies and programmes can challenge gender norms, promote women’s rights, enhance gender equality and accelerate social transformation, so that the region can achieve its gender-related SDGs by 2030, and fulfil Agenda 2063.
The SIGI 2021 Regional Report for Africa was produced as a result of these consultations, with the generous support of the Austria Development Cooperation.
