The Beijing Platform for Action recognised that “while entire communities suffer the consequences of armed conflict and terrorism, women and girls are particularly affected because of their status in society and their sex”. It also highlighted women’s crucial role in preserving social order amidst armed conflicts as peace educators. This month, UN Women focuses on “Women and armed conflict” as part of their Beijing+20 Campaign. On this occasion, we are collecting media articles on this topic for this Special Focus.
