Cyber-crime on Thai women

The poverty problem in Thailand is existing especially for people in rural areas where cannot earn enough to support their life. The poverty is the crucial reason which made these people struggle for survival and to upgrade their economic and social life. The most important factor that made these people not able to fulfill their goals is low education; they are unable to get a job with high income as they wish. Most of jobs are always service and labor which salary insufficient to their family. It’s as a cycle which happens to people in the North Eastern and Northern provinces of Thailand.

Data statistically

From the above problem, many families have made decision to solve this problem by let daughters married with foreign partners especially, western men because they believe that the western men more wealthy than Thai men and they can make women’s families more well-being away from poverty. According to the study of National Statistical Office found that Thai women married with their foreign husbands especially men from Europe and United State at least 15,000 persons per year. The most interesting figure shows that the remittance of these women to Thailand was at least 122 million Baht (3.71 million dollar) per month or 1,464million Baht (44.57 million dollar) per year. The research also indicated that women in the northeast favour to married with westerner. In part of education, most of them graduated at primary school for 68%, secondary school for 27% and Bachelor’s degree only 7% and more than 80% of these women were married and had children with her former husband before. What is the reason why they looking for foreigners’ husband? The reason is their former husbands are alcoholic, gambling addiction, not diligent, and no responsibility. Those are the social problems that affected to the economic problem. Nowadays, any family who has foreign husband always has money to upgrade their economic and social status and have a better life.

Conclusion

However, this popularity trend attracted to other Thai women because they want to have a better life. Nowadays, social networks able to connect the two sides closer by decreasing distance. It has become the channel to seek for a foreign partner. There are not only the business websites but also create an account on the famous websites such as Facebook. But the dangerous factor of IT communication is the risky of those Thai women who cannot know the people that they communicate with whether are good or bad. So, some of them were deceiving. It is the social media crimination. A lot of Thai women were the victims and most of them lost their money. The men made Thai women believed that they were a millionaire and would marry with Thai women. For example, from newspaper, some foreigners scammed Thai’s women by deceived them to invest in joint business. Finally, the Thai’s women become the prey by transferring money to swindler instead.
Such case happens countless times, it is famous news appearing in the television news or newspapers regularly but it cannot convince most of the women. So, they still have hope and wish for a foreign husbands, even though they knew it would be very risky. This problem will not be reduced or eliminated if the economy has a high inequality and gaps in income, education and living conditions of people living in urban and rural areas at present in Thailand.
