Pushing for gender equality at COP20

Tuesday 8 December was devoted to “Gender Day” at COP20, held in Lima this year, to reflect on the role women should have in the climate talks. The Government of Peru announced that it is ready to take a stand for gender, requesting support from IUCN’s Global Gender Office (GGO). Peru pledged its commitment to a Climate Change Gender Action Plan (ccGAP), making it the first country in South America to integrate gender into their national climate policy, and the 14th country to commit to such a plan.[Special_Focus#Special_Focus_-_current|Read more about the discussions on gender at COP20!]
