OECD Development Centre
The OECD Development Centre conducts comparative analysis and promotes informal policy dialogue on development issues of mutual interest for Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development member countries and the emerging and developing economies.
Membership to the Development Centre is open to both OECD and non-OECD countries.
As a forum for dialogue, the Development Centre links OECD members with developing and emerging economies and brings together development partners. To foster open debate and creative policy solutions, participants in Centre events are invited in their personal capacity. Topics for dialogue are drawn from the work programme and reflect members’ priorities.
Members
The Development Centre’s Governing Board comprises 57 countries, of which 27 are OECD members and 30 are developing and emerging economies. The European Union also takes part in the work of the Governing Board. Click here for the full list of Member Countries.
Work on Gender
The Development Centre works on various issues related to gender equality. It particularly focuses on the impact of Social institutions such as norms, traditions and Family Code on women’s social and economic empowerment. In March 2006, the Centre introduced the Gender, Institutions and Development Data Base , a comprehensive data collection that can be accessed free of charge on the OECD website. The Development Centre is also the initiator of [Wikigender.org:About|Wikigender], which was [Wikigender.org:Wikigender Launch|launched] on International Women's Day 2008.
