Carter Center human rights expert Karin Ryan will moderate a discussion among President Carter and participants in the Center’s Human Rights Defenders Forum. They will discuss efforts to protect the rights of women and girls from abuse, with a special emphasis on the role faith groups can play in solving this problem. The conversation will feature leaders who are working against the normalization of violence in society — confronting sexual violence and preventing conflict and violent extremism.
Defenders of human rights participating in a global forum at The Carter Center Feb. 8-10, 2015, will discuss efforts to address abuses of women and ensure their rights, including the impact faith groups can have. This event furthers the charge set forth in President Carter’s acclaimed recent book, “A Call to Action: Women, Religion, Violence, and Power.”
