The 2030 Agenda for sustainable development is now officially adopted. The United Nations summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda took place from 25 to 27 September 2015 in New York and convened as a high-level plenary meeting of the General Assembly. The agenda includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets and build on the Millennium Development Goals to complete what these did not achieve. Goal 5 is dedicated to achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. See our [Special_Focus#Special_Focus_-_current|selection of media articles] on the topic.
